![]() ![]() It's buggy and collapses every time you use it, and has been like this for years. Libre Office also has a navigation pane (document map), but you can't move anything. You can also drag the headings in the navigation pane around and it will rearrange not just the headings but those sections, which is helpful when you're beginning a story, outlining, or moving scenes around. So if you have an H1 for every chapter head, and maybe an H2 for every scene, and then put up H3's to tag conflicts, character developments, or whatever, you can both see the outline of your story and navigate it easily. It docks to the side and lets you jump to any heading / subheading you want with a click. Google docs is great for short writing, but TBH I would never type out a novel in anything other than MS Word, because the "navigation pane" is just too good to not have: That works for the majority of programs in Windows. You can also hold shift and click on the scroll bar in a specific spot to jump to that location (instead of dragging the bar). ![]()
